LEIPZIG- The fairytale season continues for RB Leipzig, ending Hoffenheim’s unbeaten streak with a 2-1 victory to keep the pressure on champions Bayern Munich.

Leipzig came out of the blocks with fire in their belly’s, an early chance from Naby Keita went just wide after some beautiful play from Timo Werner. Ten minutes later, Hoffenheim’s goalie Baumann made a brilliant save from a header by Orban.

Just two minutes after Orban’s chance, Leipzig had players pushed forward and paid the price for it. A beautiful counter attacking play from Hoffenheim saw Kramaric tee up Nadiem Amiri for a tap in that saw the visitors take the lead against the unbeaten hosts.

After the goal, Leipzig were on top and really pushing for an equalizer, Werner looked the most dangerous and had a shot blocked by Niklas Sule.

Leipzig equalized in the 37th minute after some scrappy play at the top of the box saw the ball fall right to none other than Timo Werner. The young German picked up his 11th goal of the campaign and has now scored in 5 consecutive home matches. His goal made it  1-1 at the break.

After a dull start to the second half, the match was brought to life after Hoffenheim’s top goal scorer Sandro Wagner was given a straight red card for a nasty challenge on Ilsanker. Wagner will be suspended for 3 games.

Leipzig were piling on the pressure after the sending off, Baumann made 2 amazing saves on shots from Werner and Poulsen to keep Hoffenheim in the game. It was constant pressure from Leipzig which saw Hoffenheim take off their goalscorer Amiri for Szalai to try and see the game out. A change that didn’t work for Hoffenheim.

Marcel Sabitzer’s deflected shot found the bottom left corner with just over 10 minutes to go to give Leipzig a deserved lead!

Hoffenheim were unable to get back into the game and keep their unbeaten streak, Leipzig came out with a huge 2-1 victory which sees them stay 3 points behind Bayern Munich.

Hoffenheim fall to 4th but could end up 6th by the end of the weekend if Hertha and Dortmund win tomorrow. Hoffenheim will host Mainz next weekend.
