United Get Crucial Away Goal in Rostov.

ROSTOV- Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored for Manchester United as the Red Devils get a crucial  away goal to bring back to Old Trafford next Thursday after a 1-1 tie with FC Rostov.

Rostov have lost once at home since May 2015, defeating Bayern Munich in this season’s Champions League before switching over to the Europa League. They were ready for the biggest night in the club’s history.

Jose Mourinho had a lot to say about the state of the field before the game. United were used to the beautiful surface at Old Trafford, it was bound to be a tough game.

United started the game off positively, with good energy and pressure on the Rostov defence.

After the first 10 minutes the game became very scrappy and the ball was in the air a lot because of the state of the field.

Ten minutes before halftime Manchester United got a vital away goal. Zlatan Ibrahimovic battled on the touchline to keep the ball in play and his pass found Mkhitaryan who was open to finish off the play.

Rostov came out fast in the second half and were rewarded in the 53rd minute when Kalachev found the veteran Bukharov, who placed the ball into the bottom left corner to level the game up at 1-1.

After the goal, Rostov grew into the game more and had belief that another goal could come. Rostov had a few half-chances, but no real threats on United’s goal.

The final whistle went and the game finished 1-1 in Russia. A big away goal for United to take back to England next Thursday for the second leg.
