Setback for Barcelona With Defeat Against Deportivo.

DEPORTIVO- Barcelona have been given a huge set-back in the title race after being defeated 2-1 against Deportivo.

Coming off their amazing comeback against PSG, Barcelona were full of confidence to keep their momentum going. Neymar stayed home after finishing the PSG game with some bruising in his knee.

Barcelona dominated the first half but were unable to register a single shot on target. They were first to every ball and looked very lively, just couldn’t break through the stubborn Deportivo defence.

In the 40th minute, Deportivo took a shock lead when Joselu opened the scoring after a scramble in front of goal saw the ball drop to him.

Gerard Pique had a good chance to tie things up right before half but failed to do so. At half-time the score was 1-0 for the home side.

Barcelona had a dream start to the second half, when the ball fell to Luis Suarez who smashed the ball into the bottom right corner to make it 1-1.

After levelling the score, Barcelona showed lots of fight to get the go-ahead goal. Iniesta and Rakitic replaced Gomes and Turan to give the champions’ a different style of attack.

After hitting the post, the referee wrongly gave Deportivo a corner which resulted in Bergantinos rising over Jordi Alba to head home, making it 2-1 for the hosts’.

Luis Suarez had a great chance to equalize late on but his shot was right at the keeper. Barcelona had lots of late opportunities to tie it up, but Deportivo stayed resilient at the back and held on for their first win against Barcelona since 2008.

A huge setback for Barcelona in the title race, who now sit a point ahead of Real Madrid, but Real have two games in hand.
