Toronto host high-flying Atlanta

TORONTO- The Eastern Conference Champions host high-flying Atlanta United this Saturday at BMO Field as the Reds’ look for their first home win this season.

Toronto FC are coming off a 0-0 draw from their home opener against Sporting Kansas City and will be looking to break the ice at home against the expansion side. While Atlanta also drew last weekend 0-0 against the MLS Cup Champions.

Atlanta have got off to a great start this season and are sitting pretty in 2nd place after four games. Atlanta have also scored 11 goals in four games and only conceded three goals too.

Toronto FC on the other hand, have seen goals hard to come by so far this season. Only scoring four goals from four games, but defensively have been sound. Keeping three clean sheets, only conceding twice.

Some big injury news for the two sides sees TFC’s first goalie, Clint Irwin, sidelined after picking up an injury against Kansas. For Atlanta, top scorer Josef Martinez got injured during the international break and will be out along with Zach Loyd. .jpg

Players to watch on each team, are Sebastian Giovinco, although he has started the season off pretty slow he will be looking to start a run of form in front of his home crowd, and Miguel Almiron has been great for Atlanta this season and will be a key player this weekend.

Atlanta’s road record so far this season sees them unbeaten with one win and one draw. Meanwhile, the Red’s are unbeaten in the season. This will be the first meeting between the sides.

Atlanta will be looking to keep their fairytale start going while TFC will face pressure at home to really kick-start their 2017 season.

Kickoff is at 7:30pm EST and will be televised on TSN 4 and 5.
