TURIN- Paulo Dybala’s brace leads Juventus to a 3-0 victory over Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

It was Barcelona’s first Champions League game since their famous comeback against PSG just a month ago. Juventus defeated Porto in the round of 16.

Dani Alves played against his old club for the first time since leaving.

Juventus started the game off well with lots of early pressure and a great chance from Higuain’s header which went straight to Ter Stegen.

Paulo Dybala opened the scoring in the 7th minute when he turned and curled the ball delicately into the bottom corner.

Barcelona reacted well from going a goal down, they were positive and pressured Juventus a lot. Iniesta had a good chance saved by Buffon in the 20th minute.

Buffon’s saved turned out to be crucial when just two minutes later Paulo Dybala picked up his second goal of the game to make it 2-0 for Juventus. Dybala was unmarked at the top of the box and curved it into the near post with his shot proving too strong for Ter Stegen.

Despite late pressure in the first half from Barcelona, the score remained 2-0 going into halftime.

Many eyebrows raised as the second half began when Andre Gomes came on for Mathieu.

Barcelona started the half off well with early pressure. Messi had a good chance but Juventus’ defence was proving to be very strong.

Juventus then turned the table on Barcelona with some pressure of their own, good chances from Khedira and Higuain but nothing to come from them.

It got from bad to worse for Barcelona when Giorgio Chiellini beat Mascherano in the air to header home to make it 3-0 for Juventus.

Barcelona were in desperate need for an away goal to take back home for next week but Juventus were resilient in defence.

Another lacklustre performance from Barcelona in the Champions League saw them fall to a 3-0 defeat in Turin.

It will have to be another courageous comeback for the Blaugrana next Wednesday as they go in search for the Champions League trophy.

Second leg: Camp Nou, Barcelona. Wednesday, April 19. Kick off at 2:45pm EST.
