DALLAS- It was a tough night TFC as they were defeated 3-1 in Frisco which saw them fall to second in the MLS standings.

Dallas were without Hedges, Zimmerman and Acosta, while Toronto were without Morrow, Osorio, Edwards and Ricketts who are away on Gold Cup duty. Victor Vazquez missed out due to personal reasons but is expected to join the team in Orlando on Tuesday.

All the absences for TFC meant the Norwegian drafted defender Oyvind Alseth made his first ever MLS start.

It was a dream start for Dallas who went ahead just four minutes into the game after Urruti cut the ball back to the top of the box and Lamah beat Bono to the ball to tap home.

After going a goal down Toronto came into the game more. Armando Cooper had a good shot saved by the keeper and two consecutive corners were saved by Jesse Gonzalez.

Toronto couldn’t capitalize on their chances and in the 20th minute conceded a second goal when Roland Lamah beat Mavinga for pace and curved the ball past Bono.

Right before halftime Sebastian Giovinco’s shot was flying into the top corner but Jesse Gonzalez’s acrobatic save kept it 2-0 going into halftime.

Ten minutes into the second half Marky Delgado made it 2-1 when Giovinco’s deflected pass came right to him and he tapped it in.

Toronto kept pushing for the equalizer; Giovinco had a good chance and Mavinga’s shot was right at Gonzalez after some crafty moves from Cooper.

Once again after Toronto were pressuring, Dallas scored to make it 3-1. A counter attacking play resulted in ex-TFC player Max Urruti smashing the ball into the top right corner.

The loss sees Toronto go down the second after Chicago beat Vancouver 4-0.

Toronto travel to play Orlando and Dallas host DC United on Wednesday night.
