Borussia Dortmund have started the season off in style, showing that they really can give Bayern Munich a run for their money this year. We saw Monaco dethrone PSG last season, could Dortmund be next?

Borussia Dortmund made seven signings this summer to strengthen the squad with lots of depth as they are trying to end the Bayern dominance.

With Toprak, Philipp, Zagadou, Dahoud, Yarmolenko, Toljan and England youngster Sancho joining the team, there is a lot of stability, youth and bravery in the side now, which we haven’t seen in years.

Mario Gotze has been in and out of the side after his lengthy injury, and with Marco Reus back in training now, it can only get better for Dortmund.

Max Philipp has proven himself well, picking up two goals in the opening five games, while Yarmolenko shows a huge threat down the right wing, scoring in the Champions League and assisting once in his first league start.

Aubameyang is doing his regular thing once again this season, with five goals in five games, the Gabon international is making up for the absence of star player Marco Reus who is still out injured.

Christian Pulisic has two goals in five games this season and is showing a lot of maturity in a young side and will only get better.

A tough tie against Freiburg is all that denies Dortmund from the perfect start to the season, but they have four wins from five in the league and sit a point ahead of rivals Bayern Munich.

Another great stat is the black & yellow have scored 13 goals in five games, conceding zero. The last time Dortmund didn’t concede a goal in their first four games they went on to win the league, a good omen?

With 3-0, 2-0, 3-0 and 5-0 wins, Dortmund fans can be full of confidence going into their next few fixtures when they face Borussia Monchengladbach and Leipzig at home, and Augsburg away. Keep in mind, Dortmund haven’t lost a home game in the league in over two years.

It will be a long season for Dortmund, but with the depth and confidence in their squad, there could be a real fight for the Bundesliga title this season.
