10-men Barca extend unbeaten run against rivals Madrid

BARCELONA – Barcelona extend its unbeaten streak in La Liga after a 2-2 tie at home to Real Madrid.

This El Clasico was Andres Iniesta’s final one at his Barcelona career comes to an end.

Luis Suarez had a chance in the opening minutes but his shot deflected out for a corner.

The champions took the lead in the ninth minute when Sergi Roberto’s cross found Suarez at the back post who found the back of the net.

The lead didn’t last long. Cristiano Ronaldo got on the end of Karim Benzema’s header to tap into the empty net to get his 25th goal of the season and his 18th Clasico goal.

Tempers flared towards the end of the first half as Sergi Roberto was shown a straight red card after an altercation with Marcelo.

The game was tied 1-1 at the break.

Ronaldo was taken off at half time and replaced by Marco Asensio after picking up an injury.

Barcelona got the lead back just seven games into the second half when Suarez found Lionel Messi, who curved the ball into the bottom corner.

Messi had a good chance to make it 3-1 in the 70th minute but Keylor Navas made a good save.

Just moments later Madrid tied it up again when Asensio found Gareth Bale who’s curling effort found the top left corner.

The game was open and both sides looked for a winner but were unable to find one, the game finished 2-2.

Madrid edge closer to finishing second after Atletico’s loss earlier today.
