LONDON – Marcos Alonso’s late goal gave Chelsea a big win over Arsenal to make it two wins in two for Maurizio Sarri.

Maurizio Sarri named the same team from last weekend. Eden Hazard and Matteo Kovacic were on the bench.

Arsenal made two changes with Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi coming in for Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Aaron Ramsey.

Chelsea took the lead in the eighth minute when Marcos Alonso squared the ball to Pedro who tapped home.

Chelsea kept coming when Ross Barkley was next to come close but his shot went just over the bar.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a great chance in the 18th minute when he had an open net but scuffed his shot over the goal.

Just seconds later Chelsea capitalized and made it 2-0. Cesar Azpilicueta’s pass found Alvaro Morata who cut onto his left foot and found the bottom corner.

Arsenal had yet another good chance but this time it was Henrikh Mkhitaryan who put his shot over the bar from just eight-yards-out.

The Armenian made up for it just minutes later when his left-footed curling effort was too strong for Kepa to keep out making it 2-1.

Only five minutes later the Gunners levelled the game. Hector Bellerin’s pass found Alex Iwobi in the box and Kepa was unable to keep the Nigerian’s shot out as the sides was tied 2-2 at the break.

Lucas Torreira replaced Granit Xhaka at half time for the Gunners.

With lots of action coming in the first half, the second half was very cagey with both sides having minimal chances.

Chelsea finally had a chance in the 73rd minute but David Luiz’s free kick was punched away to safety by Petr Cech.

The Blues took the lead in the 80th minute after some brilliant work from substitute Eden Hazard who found Alonso unmarked in the box who tapped home.

Chelsea nearly got a fourth after some nice play from former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud and Hazard, but the Belgian’s shot was saved by Cech.

The chances kept flowing for Chelsea; Alonso found Giroud unmarked in the box but the Frenchman was unable to find the back of the net after a good save once again from Cech.

Aaron Ramsey had an effort from about 20-yards-out but his shot went just a couple feet over the bar.

Chelsea went on to 3-2 with two wins from two games and will travel to Tyneside to meet Newcastle next weekend.

The Gunners have now lost two in a row and host a struggling West Ham side next Saturday.
