LONDON – Arsenal picked up a 3-1 win over West Ham at the Emirates to get their first win under Unai Emery.

Unai Emery made one change with Aaron Ramsey coming in for Mesüt Özil who was left out of the squad with illness.

Manuel Pellegrini made four changes from last weekend bringing in Carlos Sanchez, Issa Diop, Michail Antonio, and Ryan Fredericks. Jack Wilshere played against his former club for the first time.

Arsenal thought they had a lead in the 10th minute when Aaron Ramsey headed home but it was called back for offside.

The Hammers took the lead in the 25th minute after some nice play from Marko Arnautović and Felipe Anderson saw the Austrian’s shot nestle into the bottom left corner.

The lead only last four minutes when Hector Bellerin’s cross deflected to Nacho Monreal who’s shot went through a couple men on the goal line to make it 1-1.

The Hammers grew into the game as it went on and despite Arsenal having more possession, West Ham had the better of the chances.

Robert Snodgrass had a great chance on the stroke of half time but his left-footed effort went right at Petr Cech.

The sides were level at the break.

Shkodran Mustafi had a chance early in the second half but his header was well saved by the former Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

The Hammers nearly made it 2-1 in the 53rd minute when Felipe Anderson ran the full length of the pitch and found Arnautović but the Austrian’s shot was right at Cech.

Arsenal took the lead in the 70th minute when substitute Alexander Lacazette kept the ball in play and it smashed off Diop and went in his own net.

Danny Welbeck got a third in stoppage time to seal the win by making it 3-1 and are up to three points and will travel to Cardiff next.

West Ham have three straight losses and will host Wolves next.
