Columbus and L.A. meet as the Crew aim to end slump

The Crew host L.A. as they are hoping to end their losing streak on Wednesday evening at MAPFRE Stadium.

Columbus (4-6-1) are on a five-game losing run after a 3-1 defeat away to D.C. United last weekend and come in their mid-week encounter sitting sixth in the East with 13 points.

L.A. Galaxy (7-2-1) have lost once in eight games after their fell to a 3-2 loss away to the New York Red Bulls as Carlos Antuna and Zlatan Ibrahimovic got on the scoresheet for the visitors.

When the sides met in 2018, it was the Galaxy who won 4-0 in California, but the west coasters are winless in their last four trips to Ohio.

Team news

Fullbacks Milton Valenzuela and Harrison Afful both remain sidelined heading into Wednesday’s game for Caleb Porter’s side. Gyasi Zardes is set to face his former club.

The Galaxy are without Romain Alessandrini, who scored two against the Crew last season, Perry Kitchen, and Julian Araujo are all out injured.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening at MAPFRE Stadium. The game will be streamed in Canada on DAZN and will be televised in the U.S. on Spectrum Sportsnet and FOX Sports Ohio.
