Montreal continue road trip after mid-week win, travel to Cincinnati

The Montreal Impact head to Cincinnati for the first time to meet the expansion side for the first time after coming from behind to win on Wednesday.

Remi Garde’s side scored two late goals to win on the road against New York Red Bulls to pick up a 2-1 win at Red Bull Arena.

Montreal (6-4-2) remain third in the East with 20 points, tied with D.C. United and Philadelphia Union having played an extra game.

Cincinnati (2-7-2) are 11th in the East with eight points and are winless in seven, having lost their last five with not a goal to show for.

Their last outing ended in a 1-0 loss away to the San Jose Earthquakes.

This is the first ever meeting between the sides and the first of two this season.

Team news

Corben Bone, Greg Garza, and goalkeeper Jimmy McLaughlin remain sidelined for the hosts, while head coach Alan Koch was relieved of his duties after last weekend’s defeat.

Ignacio Piatti is still out for the Impact while Ken Krolicki returned to the squad. Omar Browne made his debut after joining from Independiente.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Nippert Stadium. The game will be televised in Canada on TSN 4 and TVAS, and in the U.S. on Star64 and FloFC in the Cincinnati region.
