DORTMUND, GERMANY – Take a deep breath. It’s going down to the last game of the season.

Mario Götze’s late goal gave Borussia Dortmund a 3-2 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf to see the title race go down to the final day.

Götze scored in the 91st minute to make it 3-1 for the hosts when he controlled the ball well and struck it even better to find the bottom left corner.

Everyone thought that was game, but Dawid Kownacki scored just a minute later to set up an anxious final few minutes.

Bayern Munich were on the road at RB Leipzig and drew 0-0. The defending champions had many chances to score and even had a Leon Goretzka goal called off.

Despite the immense pressure from the visitors, Dortmund held on to cut the gap on Bayern to two points.

On his last home game with Dortmund, Chelsea-bound Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Thomas Delaney’s header across the box found the American who tapped home into the open net.

Dusseldorf were threatening in the first half; Dodi Lukebakio had the ball in the net in the 19th minute but VAR ruled it offside.

Dortmund led 1-0 heading into the break.

Just two minutes into the second half it was Oliver Fink who levelled the game up for Düsseldorf when his header went right at back-up goalkeeper Marwin Hitz who fumbled the ball into his own net.

Minutes later, Delaney put the Black and Yellow back in front when he got onto his own rebound as his first shot was blocked, then his left-footed effort nestled into the left corner.

The drama continued; moments after the Danish scored, the visitors got a penalty for a foul by Hitz. Lukebakio stepped up and saw his spot kick go wide of the right post as Dortmund stayed in front.

Late on in the second half, Düsseldorf went down to 10 men as Adam Bodzek was shown a straight red card for a violent challenge on Jadon Sancho, who played a cameo role after missing training all week.

Dortmund’s win means that they travel to rivals Borussia Monchengladbach next weekend just two points behind Bayern Munich, who host top four hopefuls Eintracht Frankfurt.

A win for the Black and Yellow and a loss for Bayern would give BVB the title, but a draw for the defending champions would see them win the title on goal difference.

This is the first time since 2009 that the title will be decided on the final day. Back then, Wolfsburg won the league over Bayern Munich by two points.
