Toronto FC will be hoping to put their recent struggles behind them as they welcome Wayne Rooney and D.C. United on Wednesday evening.

TFC (5-4-1) are sixth in the conference right now with 16 points after suffering a second defeat in a row when they lost 2-1 to the Philadelphia Union.

Greg Vanney’s side are in a bit of a slump with four losses in their last six games.

D.C. (7-3-2) sit second in the East with 23 points after Paul Arriola’s lone goal gave them a 1-0 win over Sporting KC at home on Sunday evening.

They head north with three wins from five games away from Audi Field this season.

The sides last met in Oct. 2018 when Rooney gave D.C. a 1-0 win, but last time they faced in BMO Field it ended 4-4 after TFC clawed their way back from 3-0 and Nick Hagglund’s late brace gave them a point.

Ben Olsen’s side will be confident knowing they’ve won six of their 12 trips to BMO Field.
