The Canadian Championship is finally here, and it’s a new-looking tournament with a record amount of teams participating this season. Pacific and Cavalry will meet in the first leg of round one on Wednesday evening in B.C.

Pacific are winless in three games with one win in their first four games as a franchise and are coming off a 0-0 tie with FC Edmonton that sees them sit fifth in the CPL so far.

Cavalry come into the game as favourites with three wins in their first three games and are coming off a late 2-1 win against Forge FC thanks to Nico Pasquotti’s 90th-minute winner.

The second leg is set for next Wednesday and this is the first of six meetings between the two sides this season; the first CPL game will come on July 1.

Whoever advances to the second round will face Hamilton’s Forge FC with the first leg on June 5 and the return leg on June 12.

Kickoff is at 10:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesday night at Westhills Stadium. The game will be shown live online on onesoccer.ca
