High-flying Philly host the Sounders with top spot at stake

The Philadelphia Union will be looking to climb back to the top spot of the East when they host Seattle on Saturday.

The Union are currently on 23 points, one behind D.C. United who tied in Toronto on Wednesday. Philadelphia (7-3-2) have five wins from six games at home and are unbeaten in five games with four wins and a tie after a 2-1 win in Toronto last weekend.

Seattle (7-1-4) have 25 points and have one win in four away from home this season. Brian Schmetzer’s side are coming off a 2-1 win over Orlando on Wednesday and are unbeaten in five games with two wins and three ties.

Jim Curtin’s side have won the last two meetings between the two sides and have also won two in a row at home. The last meeting finished 1-0 for the Union at CenturyLink Field.

Team news

Goalkeepers Andre Blake and Matt Freese are out injured, Mark McKenzie is also missing. Fafa Picault was doubtful against TFC but did feature and should be likely to play.

Jordan Morris suffered a hamstring injury against Orlando and joins Gustav Svensson and Victor Rodriguez on the injury table.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening at Talen Energy Stadium. The game will be streamed in Canada on DAZN and will be shown in the U.S. on JOEtv, PHL17, and YouTubeTV in the Seattle region.
