Leipzig and Bayern meet for silverware in the DFB Pokal

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig will meet in the German Cup final on Saturday as both sides will be hopeful of finishing the season off with silverware.

The Bavarians are coming off a 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt which saw them lift the Bundesliga title and are chasing their 19th DFB Pokal trophy.

Niko Kovac’s side are unbeaten in 11 games and made their way to the final with a 3-2 win over Werder Bremen in the semifinal.

Leipzig saw their 18-game unbeaten streak come to an end on the weekend when they fell to a 2-1 loss to Bremen in the final league game. They got to the final with a 3-1 win away to Hamburg.

The sides met just two weeks ago in the league when they drew 0-0. They’ve met six times in the league with Bayern winning four while Leipzig have two wins.

Last time they faced in the DFB Pokal was in 2017 when Bayern won on penalties in round 2.

Team news

Tyler Adams returned from injury and should be ready to start before going to join USA for the Gold Cup. Kevin Kampl is doubtful coming into the game.

James Rodriguez, Manuel Neuer, and Javi Martinez are all listed as doubtful. Sven Ulreich should get the nod in net for the Bavarians.

Kickoff is at 2 p.m. ET. on Saturday afternoon at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The game will be shown in Germany on Sky Sport 1.
