Atlanta United will be eager to return to winning ways when they take on Minnesota United on Wednesday night.

Frank de Boer’s side are currently fifth in East and could jump to third with a win over the Loons, and are coming off a 2-1 loss against Real Salt Lake. Josef Martinez was on the scoresheet for Atlanta (6-5-2), but a late winner from Jefferson Savarino gave RSL all three points.

Minnesota (6-4-3) have won two in a row, keeping two clean sheets in those victories after defeating the Houston Dynamo 1-0 thanks to defender Romain Metanire’s goal which sees the Loons sitting fifth in the West, two points above RSL.

The sides have met three times since joining the league with Atlanta winning two and Minnesota winning one.

The Loons got their win in Atlanta as they won 3-2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, while the Five Stripes got their two wins on the road.

Team news

George Bello, Kevin Kratz, and Brandon Vazquez all remain sidelined for De Boer’s team, Hector Villalba is questionable, and Ezequiel Barco is away for international duty.

Bobby Shuttleworth and Chase Gasper are injured for the Loons and last weekend’s goal scorer, Metanire, is suspended with yellow card accumulation.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. EST. on Wednesday evening at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The game will be shown in Canada on DAZN, and in the U.S. on FOX Sports North and FOX Sports South.
