Ibrahimovic returns as the Galaxy meet Sporting KC

Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns on Wednesday night as the L.A. Galaxy will be hoping to build on last week’s win.

L.A. (8-5-1) are third in the West with 25 points and snapped their four-game losing run with a 1-0 away win over Orlando City last weekend thanks to a goal from Jonathan dos Santos.

Sporting KC (3-4-5) put an end to their nine-game winless streak on Sunday with a 3-2 win against the Seattle Sounders thanks to Johnny Russell’s three goals. They sit 11th in the West with 14 points.

The Galaxy are winless in eight games against SKC. In 2018, they tied 1-1 at Children’s Mercy Park, and Kansas won 2-1 in L.A.

Team news

Peter Vermes still has a lengthy injury list with Erik Hurtado, Jaylin Lindsey, Rodney Wallace, Roger Espinoza, and Gerso Fernandes remain out. Andreu Fontas, Wan Kuzain, Graham Zusi, Matt Besler, Daniel Salloi, and Jimmy Medranda are all questionable, and Krisztian Nemeth is back from suspension, but is listed as questionable with a calf injury.

L.A. are without Romain Alessandrini who is out with a knee injury, Diego Polenta is questionable while Perry Kitchen returned from injury. Ibrahimovic is back from suspension and Julian Araujo is away for the U20 World Cup.

Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m. EST. on Wednesday night at Children’s Mercy Park. The game will be shown in Canada on DAZN, and in the U.S. on Spectrum Sportsnet, FOX Sports KC Plus, and FOX Sports Midwest Plus.
