Toronto FC travel out west for Friday night game against the Vancouver Whitecaps as they will be hoping to put an end to their poor form.

TFC (5-6-2) started off well this season, but are now winless in five having lost four of those after their disappointing 2-1 loss at home against the San Jose Earthquakes, a game that highlighted their defensive and attacking woes.

Greg Vanney’s side fell out of a playoff spot after Chicago picked up a point against D.C. United on Wednesday night.

Vancouver (4-6-5) are ninth in the West with 17 points and have three wins from eight home games this season after a 2-1 win over FC Dallas with goals coming from Lucas Venuto and Ali Adnan.

This is the first of a three-game home-stand for the ‘Caps.

The sides met once in 2018 when goals from Russell Teibert and Kei Kamara eliminated TFC from playoff contention at BMO Field.

The Reds have traveled to BC Place six times and have two wins; both of those victories have come in their last two trips to Vancouver.

Team news

Marc dos Santos is without Michael Baldisimo, Jasser Khmiri, Yordy Reyna, Lass Bangoura, and former Toronto defender Doniel Henry.

Vanney’s side are boosted by the return of playmaker Alejandro Pozuelo who is back from suspension after his red card against Real Salt Lake. Auro Jr. came off injured against San Jose and is a doubt now, while Drew Moor is set to make it 400th appearance in MLS.

Kickoff is at 10 p.m. EST. on Friday night at BC Place. The game will be televised in Canada on TSN 1/4.
