Italy and Switzerland meet with a place in the World Cup up for grabs

There’s a place in the 2022 World Cup up for grabs on Friday when Italy welcome Switzerland.

The Azzurri have 14 points and are coming off a 2-1 win over Belgium in the third place match in the UEFA Nations League, while Switzerland are tied on points in second place and have won two in a row following a 4-0 road win in Lithuania.

The sides met in September when they drew 0-0 and they also faced at the Euro’s in the summer when Italy won 3-0 in the group stage.

Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Marco Verratti are sidelined for Italy, while Switzerland are missing Cedric Zesiger, Breel Embolo, Nico Elvedi and Gregor Kobel.

Kickoff is at 2:45 p.m. EST. on Friday afternoon at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The game will be shown in Canada on TLN.
