Jose Mourinho is back in the Premier League after being appointed by Tottenham Hotspur following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino.

The 56-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the 2023 season, and he was appointed not even 12 hours after Pochettino was relieved of his duties on Tuesday night.

This is Mourinho’s third Premier League club after managing Manchester United and Chelsea; he has been out of work for just less than a year when he was sacked by United and has been working as a TV pundit since then.

Daniel Levy said that Mourinho’s experience in winning way a major factor to bring him in.

“In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football, he has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician,” said Levy. “He has won honours at every club he has coached and we believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”

Mourinho has won 25 trophies with a record of four domestic titles in four different countries and he will go up against his former club Man United at Old Trafford on Dec. 4.

“I am excited to be joining a Club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters,” said Mourinho. “The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me.”

Pochettino was at Spurs for five-and-a-half years and progressed the club a lot, but after a poor start to the season Levy thought it was time for a change.

Some players took to social media to thank their former coach.
